Originally this Dance belongs to Ajmer and Kishangarh regions. The main idea of the dance is to restrict the long distances the women of Rajasthan have to cover to get water. The colorfully dressed and bejeweled women with covers compose charming hand movements and calm steps. The lighted lamps located on the brass pots are well balanced on their heads. To make the dance look more attractive lines of lighted patterns are created as the dancers move quietly around the floor.

The people of Rajasthan live life to the hilt. After hard work in the harsh desert sun and the rocky terrain whenever they take time off they let themselves go in gay abandon. There is dancing, singing, drama, devotional music and puppet shows and other community festivities which transform the hardworking Rajasthani into a fun-loving and carefree individual. Each region has its own folk entertainment, the dance styles differ as do the songs. Interestingly enough, even musical instruments are different.

Of considerable significance are the devotional songs and the communities who render these songs. Professional performers like the Bhaats, Dholis, Mirasis, Nats, Bhopas, and Bhands are omnipresent across the state. They are patronized by the villagers who participate actively in the shows put up by these traveling entertainers.

There are plenty of entertainment options at Chokhi Dhani, but the traditional folk dance performances really stand out because of exquisite dance forms like Kalbeliya, Ghoomar and Chari dance. The fast-paced beats of the dance form are sure to have your feet tapping and will leave you wanting to join them. The Chari dance requires the folk artist to dance with seven to eleven pots on her head! Apart from the dance show, there is also a traditional fire act, a puppet show, and a magic show.
