RAJASTHANI CHARI DANCE
One of the popular Rajasthani folk dances, Chari Dance portrays the art of collecting water in a pot or chari by the Rajasthani women. This famous dance form belongs to Kishangarh’s Gujjar community and women are only allowed to perform it. Brass pots are carried by the traditionally dressed performers on their heads balancing them to perfection and the pots are kept ignited. Chari Dance does not have any specific movements apart from balancing the pots on the performers’ heads. This dance is often performed at occasions like marriage, the birth of a male child or any other big festival.RAJASTHANI BHAWAI DANCE
A popular and difficult artistic folk dance, Bhawai Dance can only be performed by skilled Rajasthani folk dancers. Basically, this dance involves women performers balancing eight to nine brass pots on their heads and dancing simultaneously. This performance also involves balancing oneself (together with the pots) on unstable and narrow objects like a brass plate, glass bottle etc. The brass pots are sometimes substituted by a greater number of earthen pots, making it more difficult. TERAH TAALI DANCE
Members of the Kamada tribe perform Terah Taali Dance which is one of the ancient and most popular Rajasthani folk dances and is performed with Manjeeras and other musical instruments. This dance form depicts the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan and is a predominantly female performance. In this performance, Manjeeras are tied to 13 different parts of the performers’ body. These Manjeeras’ sounds create the 13 beats or Terah Taal. This beautiful dance form is depicted in a breathtaking manner and can only be performed by professional dancers. It is also performed in the temple of the legendary Ramdeoji located in Runecha.
KACHHI GHODI DANCE
One of the most popular Rajasthani folk dances, Kachhi Ghodi Dance is performed by men with dummy horses. The performers rhythmically move to drum beats and sound of fifes while holding a blunt sword on their hand. This dance form is generally performed by the Rajasthani tribes and reflects the socio-historical scenario. Initially, Kachhi Ghodi was developed as an entertaining act to be portrayed during wedding ceremonies to entertain the bridegroom’s party. These days, it has become a key part of the Rajasthani culture and is performed in any major festive or traditional procession. Also, the mock fights are sometimes discarded focusing on the amazing dance steps.
GHOOMAR
Quintessentially Rajasthani, Ghoomar is perhaps the most popular folk dance in the country. Introduced by the Bhil tribe, this dance form was adopted the royal Rajasthani communities. It is performed by women on different events and festivals like Teej, Holi etc. Traditional outfits are worn by the women. The beauty of Ghoomar lies in its graceful movements like spinning around, beating palms, and swaying hands with the traditional songs.

This is another of the Bhil tribe’s many dance forms and is performed during the festival of colors – Holi. This is one of those performances where both men and women take part.
